It was in 1982 that Debashis Bose, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, established Quest Consultants. A visionary committed to excellence, he envisaged Quest Consultants as a knowledge powerhouse excelling in management consulting and executive search.
Born into a socially conscious and educationally progressive family of Calcutta, Mr. Bose had his early education in St. Xavier’s School Calcutta. Subsequently, he graduated with distinction in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in the late sixties. He completed his academic pursuits with an MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1971, where he won a couple of awards including the prestigious Russi Mody Gold Medal. At both these institutes, apart from his demonstrated academic excellence he was well regarded for his leadership qualities.
He worked for two of the best known multi-national companies in India, notably Alcan Aluminium Ltd & Coates of India Ltd. In 1974 he joined ABC Consultants as one of their early directors and served there for seven years. He was uniquely responsible for setting up the early foundation and subsequently embarking on a growth trajectory for the firm.
He founded Quest Consultants in 1982 and as the Founder Chairman, shaped it as a knowledge-driven organisation committed to achieving professional excellence in Management Consultancy and Executive Selection. He consulted with the Ministry of Planning, Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of West Bengal, large and medium-sized organisations in India, both Indian managed and multinationals with great dexterity. Out of a total experience of over 40 years he has spent over 35 years in this industry.
Mr. Bose has been one of the pioneers of the Executive Recruitment Industry in India and is regarded as one of the topmost professionals in this field in the country. His contributions in building management teams in several well-known corporate entities are well acknowledged. He demonstrated a rare passion for creating a process-driven business and was reputed for his extensive knowledge, business acumen and unlimited energy. One of his unique contributions is developing a profiling and selection process which has been effective and time-tested. Today he is reckoned as a ‘Father figure’ in this industry.
